Premium Wool Tops: Quality Excellence

Wool top, a semi-processed product made from raw wool, is produced at topmaking mills. The wool must be scoured (washed), combed, and sorted in order to be processed. The longer fibers produced by the process are known as tops, and they are ready to be spun.

Much of the sector has relocated to China from Australia, Europe, and the United States in order to be closer to clients. Many British enterprises manufacture high-quality wool tops in Britain using British wool and fiber; most work with the fleece from cleaning to hand dyeing. A topmaker is an archaic name for a participant in the process.
